Our Story
I grew up on the east side of Kansas City, KS and have always called the city “home” even when I lived elsewhere. I attended Christian school from Pre-K through 12th grade and have always valued the education I received and appreciated the sacrifices people made to provide it. God led me to become an elementary school teacher and I’ve taught eighteen years in public schools, five of those in KCK.
We’ve all heard the phrase, “When one door closes, another opens”. As Christians, we know following God’s sovereign plan for our lives means pursuing various paths, many unseen. This became real in my life after my daughter’s Christian school was unexpectedly closed, leaving a void for Christian education in KCK. After seeing my daughter learn about Jesus and be taught from a Biblical worldview with love and compassion, I realized what a blessing it would be to be able to teach the whole child - physically, spiritually and emotionally. After much thought and a lot of prayer, I recognized that God was calling me to Christian education.
When God shows up in a mighty way, you join Him or risk missing out on His plan for your life. With the help of many prayer warriors and our founding board, Danny McCubbin, Rex Vincent, Teresa Christopher and Amy Oram, God has blessed us with the opportunity to keep Christian education in KCK with the opening of Community Christian Academy.
At CCA, we strive to be a loving community school that spiritually and academically equips, challenges and inspires students to impact their world for Christ. Our vision stretches beyond our current building, into neighborhoods of KCK where the need for Christian education is great - growing CCA one community at a time.
